Weekly Update: January 29, 2025

Word from the Pastor:

I hope this newsletter finds you well. My family and I have started a new devotional for 2025 called Catching Whimsy by Bob Goff. The messages are simple yet profound, speaking deeply to our hearts. This week, I want to share one of the devotionals with you:

Ephesians 3:16-17- I pray that, according to the riches of his [God's] glory, he may grant that you may be strengthened in your inner being with power through his Spirit, and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith, as you are being rooted and grounded in love.”

This passage speaks to me about my family and personal life, but it also brings our little church to mind. It's humbling to walk alongside others in their loneliness, loss, pain, and fear—whether it’s the loss of a loved one, a diagnosis, the death of animals that are part of one's livelihood, or unexplainable struggles. I don’t take these things lightly or pretend to have all the answers.

Pain and loss often create fears—fears about the future, trusting God, or what might come next. Though I don’t see you all as often as I’d like, please know that, like Paul prayed for his churches, I pray for each of you: that God will strengthen your inner being with power and that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.

I can’t explain all the pain and uncertainty we face, but I believe wholeheartedly that God is not absent in those moments. He desires to fill us even more deeply with His Spirit.

The part of this verse I love most is the “how.” How do we position ourselves to be strengthened? By being “rooted and grounded in love.” The more we live lives of love—loving God and others—the more we open ourselves to be strengthened and filled by His Spirit.

Have a great week!
