Weekly Update: September 25, 2024
Word from the Pastor:
I pray this newsletter finds you doing well. I wanted to use this platform to update you all on my condition. Many of you know I was not there this past Sunday due to a back injury. While things seem to be progressing, they are progressing very slowly. So, I'm asking for your prayers this week: Prayers in the way of healing and prayers in the way of favor - it has been difficult to get ahold of my doctors, and when I have things are moving extremely slow. I know many of you have been through physical ailments and injuries, and can empathize with me. At the end of the day, I just want to be well and back at the church with all of you. This leads me to my final thought. It is easy, at least for me, to take things for granted, especially things like healthy movement and personal agency. One time I heard a pastor talk about "not wasting your illness". The idea, behind this was about making sure when we go through an injury, loss, or illness, that we use the agency we do have to remind ourselves what we have to be thankful for, to remind ourselves, that not even something as simple as movement should be taken for granted; but rather enjoyed as a gift from God. I know many of you have been through much worse than what I am dealing with right now. It is easy to reflect on the loss, to get lost in despair, to focus on what seems to be immediate; and I know, while not easy, it's times like this that we pray for God to help us see more clearly all that we do have and remember how beautiful life is.
I hope to see you all on Sunday. Have a great week!
Matthew

Volunteer Opportunity
Thanks to Ben Roberts for serving in the lector position! We continue to need volunteers for this position, preferably for monthly commitments at a minimum. Responsibilities on Sunday mornings include welcoming the congregation, announcements, leading the scripture reading and the Nicene Creed. Please be in prayer about this need for our church. If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity, please complete this form or contact a trustee or the pastor.
Dripping Springs Helping Hands Pantry
September donation requests for the pantry are crackers, boxed cereals and refried beans (pouches preferred). We accept any non-perishable food items at any time, as well as diapers and wipes.
